Over the last 37 years that we have lived in our house we have experienced numerous crashes, rollovers etc. on our lawn. Some of them have been quite serious and some quite minor except for the damage to our lawn, which has never been reimbursed by the perpetrators of course. Most of these accidents were caused by excessive speed while going west on Riverside and not being prepared for the curve in front of our place.
One fellow, who rolled his car on our lawn several times while incredibly impaired, appeared in my husband's office (complete with a variety of bandages etc.) the next day looking for an estate lawyer who would assist him in getting "advance" on his mother's estate to pay off the damages to our lawn and of course, his fines as a result of this "accident"! He was so drunk that he didn't recognize my husband from the night before as we had attended to him while waiting for the police, ambulance etc.
The road is often icy on that curve in the winter and many people have just not been able to negotiate the curve without landing on our lawn.
We even had one woman end up parked in the evergreens at the foot of our property who demanded to know why we had these trees so close to the road!
I would say that we have had at least 15 people end up on our lawn due to excessive speed and sometimes alcohol. Several years ago there was a fatal accident about 4 doors west of us with the car knocking over the cement telephone pole...guy in a Porsche who was speeding, while intoxicated. We've had the fire hydrant sheared off several times as well.
